317: No One’s Listening and It’s Your Fault with Pam Marmon

When I first chatted with today’s guest for this week’s episode, a very specific phrase kept coming to my mind. She is a ‘breath of fresh air.’

Hopefully, it won’t be the last time she and I talk.

Pam Marmon

Her name is Pam Marmon, and if there’s anyone who should know what it takes to successfully navigate change and transform an organization in the process, it’s her.

After all, at age 12, she and her family moved to the U.S. from Bulgaria.

Can you imagine moving to a new country where you know no one, don’t know the language, you’ve left behind all your friends…and you’re 12?!

Resilient doesn’t even begin to describe her.

Her new book, by the way, is called No One’s Listening and It’s Your Fault: Get Your Message Heard During Organization Transformations.

To put it simply, Pam’s book is about one thing: with the proper process, change is not hard.

316: Could You Survive Shark Tank?

One of my favorite things about creating content on a regular basis is the people I’m able to meet along the way.

Often times, those people I meet and I become friends. Occasionally, I get to invite those friends onto the show.

pierce marrs

Such is the case with today’s guest, Pierce Marrs.

Pierce has been hosting his own podcast longer than I have and, in it, covers the ins and outs of a popular TV show called Shark Tank.

His new book, written from his experiences covering the show for so long and interviewing many of the show’s guest business owners as well as the Sharks, is called Could You Survive Shark Tank?: The Sharks’ Top 7 Questions Every Entrepreneur Must Answer.

Get the answers to these seven questions down, and your business is all but guaranteed to succeed.

315: Thinking Like a Boss with Kate Crocco

Uncover and Overcome the Lies Holding You Back from Success

I often field requests from publishers and publicists pitching books intended for, mostly, women (or, mostly men).

Almost universally I find that I get just as much, personally, out of books intended for the other gender (women in my case).

kate crocco

Such is the case with today’s featured book by Kate Crocco.

One of my favorite topics to read about these days is the area of mindset, and this is ground Kate’s book covers extensively.

This brand new book is called Thinking Like a Boss: Uncover and Overcome the Lies Holding You Back from Success.

With plenty of inspiring true stories and actionable steps you can take – starting now – Kate exposes the twelve limiting beliefs that are holding you back from your true potential.

314: The Surprising Power of Business Experiments with Stefan H. Thomke

Author of Experimentation Works

When I think back to my time in college, I can’t help but think about how much of that time I wasted.

So much so that I ended up dropping out of college after about two years in (Sorry Butler, it’s not you…it’s me).

stefan thomke

I would eventually return, studying a different discipline and, interestingly, did far better the second time around.

There were many reasons my next attempt at school would turn out far better, not the least of which was now I was paying the bill.

All that wasted time from long ago makes me truly appreciate the conversations I’m able to have on a weekly basis, especially when those conversations include the likes of Harvard professors. Like now.

Today, we’re joined by Stefan H. Thomke whose latest is a book called Experimentation Works: The Surprising Power of Business Experiments.

You should also check out his first book.

With Experimentation Works, Stefan guides you through best practices in business experimentation, illustrates how these practices work at leading companies, and answers some fundamental questions.

313: Building a Compelling Subscription With Robbie Kellman Baxter

Author of the new book, The Forever Transaction

It’s true. While working out the details in booking today’s guest for the show, I found another email exchange we’d shared nearly five years ago.

In this brief exchange, we talked about her coming on to the show. That visit NEVER materialized!

robbie kellman baxter

Why? Because I completely lost or forgot about the email.

Well, it’s time to right that wrong. Thankfully, she had no recollection of that first email and agreed again to come on. 🙂

Her latest effort is a book called The Forever Transaction: How to Build a Subscription Model So Compelling, Your Customers Will Never Want to Leave.

It is an excellent follow up to her first book, you know, the one I missed out on telling you about all those years ago.

With The Forever Transaction, you have everything you need to build durable, long-term relationships with every customer, and leverage them for ultimate business success – today, tomorrow, and forever.
