209: Take Control and Be More Optimistic About the Future

With Rock Retirement author, Roger Whitney

My guest today is someone I’ve had the pleasure to get to know a bit over the past few years.

He’s a fellow podcaster, a relatively new author, and is adamant in his belief that the financial planning industry is in dire need of some change.

His book is called Rock Retirement: A Simple Guide to Take Control and Be More Optimistic About the Future and, in it, he argues that though traditional retirement planning worked for your parents and their simpler lifestyles, it doesn’t address the unique needs of you and your generation.

Retirement is changing, and the process you use to make critical decisions about your life and money must change as well.

I hope you’ll join us for this fascinating conversation.

In today’s episode, I ask Roger to share about:

  • How the way our parents planned and prepared for this stage of life – and the way many advisors still advocate – is no longer relevant
  • Why you should rethink retirement, even if you think it’s too late to do so
  • The four little conversations you need to be willing to have with yourself
  • …and much more!
