419: Your Super-Serious Guide to Modern Money Management with Joe Saul-Sehy

When it comes to other podcasters, one person I’ve always admired is also today’s guest on Read to Lead.

joe saul-sehy

His name is Joe Saul-Sehy, and what he’s built over at the Stacking Benjamins podcast is pretty amazing. He also happens to have a new book out (surprise) that I’m delighted to help put on your radar.

That book is called Stacked: The Super-Serious Guide to Modern Money Management.

Personal finance, Joe says, can be a lot more fun than you think. Joe and his co-author, Emily Guy-Birken, take you step-by-step along the way to financial success with their signature blend of shrewd financial information and wacky humor.

418: How Truly Great Leaders Unleash Greatness in Others with Stephen M. R. Covey

Today I welcome back for the third time – and the second time in less than a year – one of my favorite authors. He’s got a brand new book out (released last week) and I can’t wait to tell you more about it.

stephen m. r. covey

My guest is none other than Stephen M. R. Covey, whose previous books include The Speed of Trust and Smart Trust, both #1 Wall Street Journal bestsellers.

His brand new book is called Trust & Inspire: How Truly Great Leaders Unleash Greatness on Others.

Stephen M. R. Covey has made it his life’s work to understand trust in leadership and organizations. In this new book, he makes the compelling argument that even though our world has changed drastically, our style of leadership has not.

Most organizations, teams, schools, and families today still operate from a model rooted in “Command & Control,” focusing on positional power, hierarchies, and rigid compliance. But because of the shifting demographics of the workforce, the changing nature of work itself, and the choices we now have for where and how to work, this old approach to leadership is both outdated, and irrelevant.

417: How to Find What You Love, Love What You Do, and Do It for the Rest of Your Life with Marcus Buckingham

What an awesome and incredibly important discussion I have for you today! It’s my long-awaited sit-down with none other than Marcus Buckingham.

marcus buckingham

I first got the chance to hear Marcus speak fifteen, or maybe, twenty years ago at the annual Global Leadership Summit in Chicago. Marcus was captivating AND inspiring that day.

His new book is fantastic! And, the good news for you is, it officially releases TODAY! It’s called Love + Work: How to Find What You Love, Love What You Do, and Do It for the Rest of Your Life.

So, say you’ve long been told to “Do what you love.” Sounds simple, but the real challenge is how to do this in a world not set up to help you.

Most of us actually don’t know the real truth of what we love—what engages us and makes us thrive—and our workplaces, jobs, schools, even our parents, are focused instead on making us conform.

Sadly, no person or system is dedicated to discovering the crucial intersection between what you love to do and how you contribute it to others.

But Marcus shows you how to break free from this conformity—how to decode your own loves, turn them into their most powerful expression, and do the same for those you lead and those you love.

416: The Extraordinary Unordinary You with Simone Knego

Sometimes you record an interview and it gets mangled by the technology. Something beyond your control goes wrong. It happens.

simone knego

Then, sometimes, the person responsible for recording the conversation forgets to click the record button. Yep. I did that. The second time in nine years.

But, thankfully, most people are really forgiving. That’s certainly an apt description of Simone Knego, who, upon learning of my slip up, graciously agreed to do it all over again. And, you know what, it turned out even better. A blessing in disguise.

I’m delighted to share with you about her new book. It’s called The Extraordinary Unordinary YOU: Follow Your Own Path, Discover Your Own Journey.

In it, Simone shares that what you do matters and it inspires others. And, by sharing your story, you can motivate and encourage those around you – and in doing so, change the world.
