417: How to Find What You Love, Love What You Do, and Do It for the Rest of Your Life with Marcus Buckingham

What an awesome and incredibly important discussion I have for you today! It’s my long-awaited sit-down with none other than Marcus Buckingham.

marcus buckingham

I first got the chance to hear Marcus speak fifteen, or maybe, twenty years ago at the annual Global Leadership Summit in Chicago. Marcus was captivating AND inspiring that day.

His new book is fantastic! And, the good news for you is, it officially releases TODAY! It’s called Love + Work: How to Find What You Love, Love What You Do, and Do It for the Rest of Your Life.

So, say you’ve long been told to “Do what you love.” Sounds simple, but the real challenge is how to do this in a world not set up to help you.

Most of us actually don’t know the real truth of what we love—what engages us and makes us thrive—and our workplaces, jobs, schools, even our parents, are focused instead on making us conform.

Sadly, no person or system is dedicated to discovering the crucial intersection between what you love to do and how you contribute it to others.

But Marcus shows you how to break free from this conformity—how to decode your own loves, turn them into their most powerful expression, and do the same for those you lead and those you love.

416: The Extraordinary Unordinary You with Simone Knego

Sometimes you record an interview and it gets mangled by the technology. Something beyond your control goes wrong. It happens.

Then, sometimes, the person responsible for recording the conversation forgets to click the record button. Yep. I did that. The second time in nine years.

But, thankfully, most people are really forgiving. That’s certainly an apt description of Simone Knego, who, upon learning of my slip up, graciously agreed to do it all over again. And, you know what, it turned out even better. A blessing in disguise.

I’m delighted to share with you about her new book. It’s called The Extraordinary Unordinary YOU: Follow Your Own Path, Discover Your Own Journey.

In it, Simone shares that what you do matters and it inspires others. And, by sharing your story, you can motivate and encourage those around you – and in doing so, change the world.

415: Restoring Meaning, Purpose, and Fun to Your Life and Work with Dr. Sunil Raheja

It’s not often the case, but my guest today is someone I’ve had the chance to get to know over the last six to eight years.

sunil raheja

His name is Dr. Sunil Raheja. We first met when he became one of my early podcast coaching clients (you can check out his blog and podcast here).

Then, he was working on his book. Now, I’m happy to say, it is officially out and available to the world. It’s called Dancing with Wisdom: A Sacred Quest to Restore Meaning, Purpose, and Fun to Your Life and Work.

In it, Dr. Sunil encourages us to stop going through the motions and live our best life! If you want to learn how to become the fully-alive human you were always intended to be, then this episode is for you!

414: Taking Your Next Book From Blank Page to 10,000 Copies Sold with Chandler Bolt

Today’s guest is making at least his third appearance on the Read to Lead Podcast (it’s hard to keep up these days).

Chandler Bolt has updated the content of his bestselling book that also has a slightly revised subtitle.

It’s now called Published: The Proven Path From Blank Page to 10,000 Copies Sold. And you should grab a copy right now. It’s jus $14.99 on Amazon. But, if you’re one of the first 50 people to click that link above, Chandler will send you a copy completely free (no shipping and handling even). How’s that for a deal?!

If you’ve been thinking about writing book, maybe even making it a New Year’s Resolution but you haven’t been able to make it happen…or, you’ve been sitting on an unfinished manuscript waiting to press publish…or, maybe your book launch failed and you’re wondering what went wrong…then this book is DEFINITELY for you!

I hope you’ll click the play button below to learn more about Chandler and his work. For a summary, just keep scrolling.

413: Leveraging the Power of Visual Thinking in Leadership and in Life with Todd Cherches

Today’s guest is the second person I’ve had on recently to chat about the power of visual thinking.

todd cherches

A few weeks ago, it was three-time guest Dan Roam. Today, it’s the CEO and co-founder of BigBlueGumball, Todd Cherches.

Todd’s recent book is called VisuaLeadership: Leveraging the Power of Visual Thinking in Leadership and in Life. In it, he describes how the concept will forever change the way you think and communicate by showing how you can quickly and easily leverage the power of visual imagery, mental models, metaphor, analogy, storytelling, and humor to help you take your game to a whole new level.

Todd is also a three-time award-winning Adjunct Professor of leadership at NYU, a lecturer on leadership in various programs at Columbia University, and a TEDx speaker (see below).
