Episode #019: Dave Delaney, Author, New Business Networking

Dave DelaneyIn his new book New Business Networking: How to Effectively Grow Your Business Network Using Online and Offline Methods (Que Biz-Tech), Dave Delaney shares how to combine traditional, offline networking methods with the latest social media platforms, helping you to make them both more effective in the process.

In just a few short years, Dave has come to be recognized as a leader in digital marketing, social media strategy and business networking. He even co-founded two annual unconferences, PodCamp Nashville and BarCamp Nashville.

As well, Dave launched two monthly networking events, one of which is near and dear to me – Geek Breakfast – as I participated in helping found a local chapter in my community. There are Geek Breakfast chapters around the world involving local residents interested in discussing new media, podcasting, digital marketing, blogging, programming, open source, social networks and more.

  1. Jeff, thanks so much for the call-out! I learned a ton from this podcast, just like all of your others.
Thanks for all you are doing, and I appreciate that we can all support
each other and our goal of helping bring great ideas to people through
    books!

    • You are so right Deborah. A rising tide lifts all boats. When we help each other get noticed, the winners are the minds exposed to new and exciting ideas.

  2. Hi Jeff and @davedelaney found todays chat again interesting, inspiring and entertaining. Networking can sometimes be and feel awkward, but the ideas you gave were very helpful, especially the LinedIn conversation, it’s a network, as is google+ that I know I should use more, but haven’t got around to spending time to utilise the most. Nice words about your wife, behind every great man eh?

Jeff – congrat on the 101 5* reviews! Deserved!

    Thanks again!

    • Thank you very much Peter. Dave is definitely one of the good guys. So glad it was helpful to you. And thanks for your generosity when it comes to feedback. It always puts a smile on my face when I see you commenting here.

  3. Hi Jeff,

I love your podcast. I am usually a month or so behind since I download and listen to them on walks. I just left a 5-star review. Keep up the good work. I have already read several of the books recommended.

    Jeff and Dave,

Loved your discussion of networking. As a graying boomer, semi-retired attorney, and Chair of Business at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, CA, those never-ending “networking” issues caused me to dream up and just develop a start-up app. I would be honored if either of you might check it out: Sparkify, at http://www.sparkify.com and a recent article at http://www.seasidecourier.com/news/oceanside/article_434c64c8-50a9-11e3-95f6-001a4bcf6878.html

We would really love to be able to test our concept at a conference or similar event/venue. If you see benefits and have any ideas or contacts, we would greatly appreciate the connection. Best wishes and continued success to both of you.
