273: Applied Empathy with Michael Ventura

The New Language of Leadership

When a publicist recently reached out to me about the book I’m featuring today, I almost passed on it.

I was in a hurry (and I get a lot of requests). But then I reread the email and realized who the author and his company have worked with.

Michael Ventura

Folks like GE, Nike, Warby Parker, and many others. That prompted me to take a second look. And I’m glad I did.

The book in question is called Applied Empathy: The New Language of Leadership, and the author is Michael Ventura.

Michael is an incredibly smart and wonderfully insightful guy. I truly enjoyed his book.

272: The Daily Decision That Changes Everything

With Start With Your People author Brian Dixon

I’ve known today’s guest for a number of years. I actually can’t remember where and how we first met.

But one thing that has stuck with me over the years is how, every time I see him, I always end up walking away with so much more clarity toward my life and business.

This mystery person’s name is Brian Dixon, and I couldn’t be happy to be welcoming him to the show today.

Brian’s new book is called Start With Your People: The Daily Decision That Changes Everything. It is so new that it’s not even out yet at the time this post is being published.

You can, however, pre-order the book now and receive it the day it releases (Sept. 10, 2019)!

271: 7 Keys to Greater Success in Your Personal and Professional Life

With Unlimiting Your Beliefs author Karen Brown

Since I began the practice of running a few times a week beginning in August of 2016, I’ve managed to work in a few local 5K races here and there.

Today’s guest, a self-described recreational athlete, set her sites just a little bit higher; deciding she was going to find a way to get to the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii (she made it there and finished this grueling race at age 46).

Her name is Karen Brown and, since that time, she’s competed in 18 of the toughest races in the world.

Somehow, she also found time to write a book. It’s called Unlimiting Your Beliefs: 7 Keys to Greater Success in Your Personal and Professional Life.

I gave this book a 5-Star review on Amazon and believe it to be more than worth your time.

270: 7 Simple Actions to Get the Right Things Done and Achieve Your Goals

With Accomplish It author Mridu Parikh

I first met today’s guest at a conference I was keynoting back in 2016.

She was one of those rare folks who immediately put me at ease with her friendly demeanor and positive attitude.

mridu parikh

Her name is Mridu Parikh and now, three years later, she has written a brand new book called Accomplish It: 7 Simple Actions to Get the Right Things Done and Achieve Your Goals.

I read this one from cover to cover, and though a few of the actions she recommends were things I was already doing, I learned plenty of new tactics and strategies I plan to implement to take my productivity to a new level.

I believe that no matter where you are on the productivity “scale,” you’ll find something of value in Mridu’s book.
