269: The All-New Second Edition of Same Side Selling

with co-author Ian Altman

How valuable would it be for a seller to have the buyer’s perspective? How many books about selling are co-written by a sales expert and a professional buyer?

As far as I know, there’s only one, and it’s the one being featured on today’s episode of the Read to Lead Podcast.

ian altman

Same Side Selling: How Integrity and Collaboration Drive Extraordinary Results For Sellers and Buyers was written to help you escape the competitive, adversarial dynamic that gives salespeople a bad name.

Instead, use a collaborative, trust-building approach that everyone can embrace – especially your customer!

268: How to Use Productive Conflict to Get Your Team Back On Track

with The Good Fight author, Liane Davey

My guest today is Liane Davey, a New York Times bestselling author, and a regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review.

Liane has worked with executives at companies such as Amazon, Walmart, Aviva, 3M, TD Bank, and Sony.

liane davey

She says that, in the workplace, “conflict” has become a dirty word. Most believe it to be antithetical to teamwork, employee engagement, and positive company culture.

The truth is that “our teams and organizations require conflict to get things done.” But we avoid conflict and build up what she calls “conflict debt” by derferring and dodging difficult decisions.

Organizations are paying the price by becoming less productive, less innovative, and less competitive. You suffer too, from an overwhelming workload to sleepless nights.

For more on how to create the productive conflict your organization needs to get along and get stuff done, read The Good Fight: Use Productive Conflict to Get Your Team and Organization Back On Track.

267: Making Your Company Fit for Human Life

With Moe Carrick, author of Bravespace Workplace

My guest today is Moe Carrick, a consultant, entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, and author who is passionate about the role work plays in creating meaning for our lives.

I believe she offers a fresh, honest, and direct roadmap for leaders everywhere who seek to make their workplace “fit for human life.”

And, she offers advice for workers and encourages them to be their authentic selves.

It just so happens her message is resonating with leaders in all organizations, at every level, as well as those in development, HR, OD, coaching, and consulting who advise others about organizational culture, leadership, structures, and teams.

She writes about it in, you guessed it, her new book.

That new book is out beginning May 21 (available for pre-order right now) and is called Bravespace Workplace: Making Your Company Fit for Human Life.

266: 6 Energy Habits to Master the Business Travel Life

With author Bryan Paul Buckley

I first met today’s guest just less than three years ago at a podcast conference taking place, that year at least, in Chicago.

His name was Bryan Buckley, and he was as energetic a 40-something guy as I’ve ever met. Lucky for me, Chicago is his hometown. Otherwise, who knows if we would have met that day.

I’m so glad we did (thank you Mike Kim). That meeting has blossomed into a friendship. Bryan invited me to speak at his online conference he held a couple of years ago.

We met up again at another conference last year in Nashville (Michael Hyatt’s Achieve Conference) and the friendship deepened (it didn’t hurt that Bryan treated me to an excellent steak dinner). 🙂

As you can imagine, I was delighted then when I heard he was working on a book. That new book is out now and is called Elite Road Warrior: Six Energy Habits to Master the Business Travel Life.

If you travel for work 40 plus nights a year, you’ll find his book to be extremely valuable, especially if you’re attempting to take back control of your personal and professional life, and your physical and mental health.

If that’s you, read this book now!

263: How to Ignore Everybody, Carve Your Own Path, And Live Your Best Life

With author Laura Gassner Otting

Some people just seem to have it all together. Others actually do. Today’s guest is in the latter category.

I’m talking about Laura Gassner Otting, a highly sought after speaker, consultant, and executive coach.

Laura brings both tough love and wisdom and offers a no-holds-barred look at what it really takes to get out of your own way and earn your success today.

Among other things, Laura and I discuss her new book Limitless and the knowledge and experience she’s gained in interviewing thousands of leaders at crisis points in their lives and their careers.

If you ever dreamed about discovering and crushing that personal goal that is so big and so scary that you’ve only dared whisper it to yourself, this book is the permission you didn’t even know you needed to live into it as only you can.
