Many people believe—maybe you are one of them—that you’re either born creative or you’re not. Today’s guest suggests that nothing could be further from the truth.
Why is it a room full of school children will say “yes” to the question of whether or not they’re creative, and demonstrate it in myriad ways, only for those that answer similarly to drop dramatically as they age?
I would argue, in part, it’s because school educates out of us our creativity as it forces us all into the same mold (or else).
If that’s you, never fear. You can get it back. Maria Brito, author of How Creativity Rules the World: The Art and Business of Turning Your Ideas Into Gold, illustrates how creativity is merely a series of habits, actions, and attitudes that anyone can develop—regardless of who you are and what you do.
There has never been, she says, a more crucial time than now to develop your creativity and your ability to innovate. Coming up with original ideas of value is today’s most precious resource.
