Work well and live well. That is a great tagline.
It just happens to be the tagline for a consulting firm called MatchPace, founded by Elizabeth Knox. Elizabeth, thanks to an introduction by my friend Lisa Lewis, is my guest on the podcast today.
Elizabeth’s mission is to give organizational leaders and their teams strategies to transform their workplaces so everyone can work well and live well (see, there’s that tagline).
The key to effective and satisfying work, she says, is finding a sustainable pace. Without it, we all suffer from a lack of focus, burnout, and high turnover.
Elizabeth, after years of helping organizations reimagine their workday, details her experiences in her new book and offers data-driven strategies to help you discover a pace that empowers both your organization and your employees to succeed.
That new book is called Work Reimagined: How the Power of Pace Can Help Your Organization Achieve a New Level of Focus, Engagement, and Satisfaction.

In today’s episode, Elizabeth and I chat about:
- What happens when we measure how effective we are at work by how long we work rather than by outcomes
- Why our workdays and our workplaces are not designed to facilitate focus, and what to do about it
- I ask her about the realities of burnout
- And lots more!
