347: Lessons In Leadership from the Greatest Leaders of All Time

My guest today, and I, have something in common. We are both broadcasters.

Me a former broadcaster, and he a current one.

brian sanders

His name is Brian Sanders and he is here to remind us that, among other things, we are often our own worst enemy when it comes to what holds us back.

Brian is one of those rare guests who isn’t afraid to share his struggles (both of the personal and the leadership variety). He does so, in part, because he realizes you’ll likely see yourself in some of what he shares.

Maybe this will help bring you closer to examining your own struggles. If nothing else, you’ll be encouraged to know you’re not alone, as leaders often can be if we’re not careful.

Brian’s book is called Leadership Endurance: Strategic Steps from the Greatest Leaders of All Time.

In today’s episode, I ask Brian about:

  • The fact that though leaders are made, not born, there is a certain “Leadership DNA” required for effective leadership
  • What we can learn about leadership from studying the relationships between people like Lincoln and Grant
  • Why Brian spends a few minutes each morning talking to himself
  • And lots more!
