Episode #024: Dr. Bill Dyment, Author of Fire Your Excuses (with Dr. Marcus Dayhoff)

Dr. Bill DymentIt’s that time of year again when many of us will make a list of those areas of our lives we’d like to see change for the better in 2014. However, as we well know, more than a few of us will fail to achieve any of the lifestyle changes on our list.

The reason for this, according to today’s guest Dr. Bill Dyment – author of the book Fire Your Excuses– is that we too often make “trying harder” and “getting more disciplined” the goal. These strategies, says Dr. Dyment, are almost always ineffective. Simple solutions will not eliminate behaviors that have persisted in our lives for years.

Dr. Dyment demonstrates that the process of changing permanently is won and lost at a much deeper level.

  1. Jeff the discussion with Dr. Dyment was thought provoking. I plan do do some “firing” today. Enjoy the day.

  2. Hi Jeff,

Sorry I’ve been away! Another great interview with Dr. Dyment today. I hadn’t realized that America had become that well known for its excuse mindset. Gives me a lot to think about. I’ll definitely be taking the quiz to see where I’m lacking.

Thanks for the great content. I know you’ve worked very hard throughout your career but I think you quite possibly are the most natural sounding host of any podcast I listen to. And I listen to a LOT!

    I’ll be back much sooner,

    Jeff

    • Oh, I know Ryan. I promise, that’s the only drawback. One listener said the show should come with a “wealth” warning because each time he listens, his wallet gets lighter.
