It’s that time of year again when many of us will make a list of those areas of our lives we’d like to see change for the better in 2014. However, as we well know, more than a few of us will fail to achieve any of the lifestyle changes on our list.
The reason for this, according to today’s guest Dr. Bill Dyment – author of the book Fire Your Excuses– is that we too often make “trying harder” and “getting more disciplined” the goal. These strategies, says Dr. Dyment, are almost always ineffective. Simple solutions will not eliminate behaviors that have persisted in our lives for years.
Dr. Dyment demonstrates that the process of changing permanently is won and lost at a much deeper level.

Jeff the discussion with Dr. Dyment was thought provoking. I plan do do some “firing” today. Enjoy the day.
Thanks so much Jack. I really appreciate that. Thanks for listening and for sharing your time with me.
Hi Jeff,
Sorry I’ve been away! Another great interview with Dr. Dyment today. I hadn’t realized that America had become that well known for its excuse mindset. Gives me a lot to think about. I’ll definitely be taking the quiz to see where I’m lacking.
Thanks for the great content. I know you’ve worked very hard throughout your career but I think you quite possibly are the most natural sounding host of any podcast I listen to. And I listen to a LOT!
I’ll be back much sooner,
Jeff
Wow, thanks Jeff. That’s so encouraging to hear. So glad too in light of my launch of Podcaster Academy (http://podcasteracademy.com) in February.
My desire is to coach other podcasters to master the art of sounding natural and conversational in every bit of their presentation.
If you get a chance to glance at it, I’d love any feedback you might have to make it better.
Cheers!
I’ll definitely have a look at it and let you know if anything strikes me on first impression!
Wonderful Jeff. Thank you!
Hi Jeff,
The only thing that strikes me right off the bat is that you need to have a popup or leadpages thingy that announces it on your homepage somewhere.
I also think more stuff needs to be above the fold like your personal message.
David Siteman Garland just did a video where he talks about opt-in pages and reviews some of his students’ pages. I think it might help you see some stuff.

Hey Jeff! Thanks for the tips. Watching the video now.
Cool! Let me know what you think.
Great episode Jeff! I’ve gotta go out and read the book now! Too many on the list after listening to your podcast :).
Oh, I know Ryan. I promise, that’s the only drawback. One listener said the show should come with a “wealth” warning because each time he listens, his wallet gets lighter.
